One of the worst things you can do in marketing? Be BORING – that’s the bottom of the barrel.
If you are boring people won’t read or pay attention to your stuff. I found these two pictures online and thought they were great examples of being super creative and no where near boring.
Although it’s not my style of marketing, since we work with direct response, it is a great way to get noticed and talked about. I would rather have some form of offer or additional way to connect with the brand.
However, if I passed by these two signs and setups, I would have told everyone I knew that day, that week, that month.
Too many companies are afraid of being massively creative and pushing the limits. They stay stiff and so do their results. Be creative. Be outrageous. Ever notice how the more outrageous Howard Stern or Rush Limbaugh are the more their listeners increase? I’m not saying you should just go crazy and do something to sabotage your company. Just don’t bore your customers.
